JUST DAYS after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, causing massive devastation, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake has struck Guatemala and parts of El Salvador. There have no immediate reports of injuries or devastation.

As per the United States Geological Survey the Guatemala earthquake occurred on Monday morning, about 60 miles south west of Guatemala city. People felt the earthquake in the countryside and in El Salvador too.

The USGS says it hit Monday morning about 60 miles (97 kilometres) southwest of Guatemala City, where it was felt by many residents.

There were reports of shaking in the Guatemalan countryside and in El Salvador as well. "We felt a tremor that was a bit strong. We are monitoring the area but there is no damage here. It was a light movement that lasted for a few seconds," said Luis Medina from the Guatemalan tourist office in Puerto Quetzal, on the south coast.
