Guava is super rich in antioxidants, a new study reveals
The poor man's fruit, Guava is super food, according to the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). However, Deepika Malik told Merinews that Guava is not the only fruit rich in antioxidants.

A NEW research conducted by the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad that the poor man’s fruit, Guava is the ultimate super food rich in antioxidants. When Merinews talked to executive Director of lifecentury.com, Deepika Malik regarding the new research, she said: “Guavas might be one of the fruits rich in antioxidants but it cannot be termed as the only one as there are other fruits like Amla, which is also very rich in antioxidants and vitamin C.”


A number of fruits like the Indian plum, custard apple and mangoes were tested for the research and it was seen that guavas passed the test with flying colours. As reported in timesofindia.com, guavas have the highest amount of antioxidants compared to these fruits. Deepika did not negate this point and said that compared to these fruits guava certainly is a rich source of antioxidants. She also said, “Two guavas should be consumed on a daily basis, as apart from antioxidants, they also are rich in fibre that helps in digestion.”


Deepika also said that guavas are especially good for the youngsters as today’s young people have too much refined things, so they require to have a fruit which gives them everything in one go; vitamin, antioxidants and fibre for digestion, and guava has that power. Guavas are really a staple food for the rural India as they are easily available at cheaper rates. When asked whether people should do away apple, Deepika said, “every fruit have its own quality. People should, most importantly eat seasonal fruits and try their maximum to avoid cold storage fruits.”
