Since India calls itself a legitimate democracy, it is therefore imperative that all its people, irrespective of their position in the administration should be treated at par with common people, especially when there are grave allegations regarding their misconduct or involvement in scams.
GUJARAT GOVERNOR Kamla Beniwal is allegedly involved in land-grabbing through false declaration. Unfortunately our Constitution exempts persons seated on high posts, including state-governors to be exempted from any criminal proceedings like these.
India is a democracy rather than monarchy, and all human beings including even President and state-governors should be treated at par, at least for such offences though with provision of some extra care.
Discretionary allotment of land is one of the biggest forms of corrupt practices, which has not left any authority untouched. There should be a complete ban on discretionary allotment of government-land. Only form of allotment of public-land should be done through well-advertised public-auction.
It should be ensured that all those availing subsidised/ concessional lease of government-land, may be accountable as public-authorities under RTI Act.
