Gujarat, one of the most preferred states for the global investors, is now on the way to become the automobile hub of the country. Today, top Maruti officials are meeting with the state Chief minister Narendra Modi for new prospects in the state.
IT SEEMS Gujarat is going to be the biggest automobile hub in the country. After the successful entrance of some big names in the automobile industry, now the state is looking forward to new investment from the biggest automobile maker of the country, Maruti. Top officials from Maruti Suzuki, including the chairman of Suzuki Motor Corp, Osamu Suzuki, Maruti Chairman, R C Bhargava and the Managing Director of the company S Nakanishi, are meeting with the Gujarat CM Narendra Modi today, regarding the investment plan for the manufacturing plant at the new location, outside Gurgaon and Manesar. The state government has already cleared 500 acre land for the Maruti manufacturing plant.

Now, if the business deal materialises between the Gujarat government and Maruti, the automobile maker will, for the first time in 30 years, have a manufacturing facility outside of Haryana. At Mundra port in the state, Maruti has already invested in developing infrastructure from where it exports its vehicles to European countries.
In the state, many automobile companies are exploring the option of setting-up manufacturing plant including Hero Motocorp, formerly Hero Honda Motors Ltd, Bajaj Auto and Hindustan Aeronautics. At Sanand, near Ahmedabad city in the state, Tata Motors, Ford Motor and Peugeot have already invested or going to invest million dollars in their manufacturing unit.
Gujarat, one of richest states in the country, has many big industries and agricultural establishments including Reliance oil refinery, and the biggest dairy in Asia - Amul. In the list of Forbes magazine in 2010, Ahmedabad, is listed at number three after Chengdu and Chongqing - among the fastest growing cities of the world.
