THE OIL spill which continues in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana, after the Deepwater Horizon offshore rig located here sank and can touch the Mississippi river delta by Thursday night or tonight, as per a federal official.
The latest news from the oil spill matter is that even though the Coast Guard and BP are trying their best to contain the spill and stop the three leaks which are causing 5000 barrels of oil to leak into the Gulf of Mexico daily. However, today morning, Charles Henry, Natonal Oceanic Atmpospheric Administration spokesman did confirm a worrying facet - the oil spill is nearing Louisiana and is about three miles from the shore.
BP, who were currently responsible for the operations of the Deepwater Horizon offshore rig, have also apparently asked the Department of Defense for help.
Meanwhile, Lisa Jackson, the Environmental Protectional Agency administrator has made a declaration, stating that the bill of the clean up belongs with BP and the oil major should pay for the costs of state agencies too. She said, "We will be sending a bill to BP at some point."
Governor Bobby Jindal has declared emergency in Louisiana and officials are chalking plans to prepare for the oil spill to touch land, with crews loading and deploying booms to contain at least some oil from touching the fisheries and coast wetlands.
A special shirmp season has already opened to get as much of the shrimping harvest, apart from other fishery benefits from the fertile fishing grounds, before the oil spill affects the region. The white shrimp found here are the most profitable produce for Louisiana.

The BP Oil Leak

??????
On May 1st, in the Gulf of Mexico something went wrong. A pipe holding gallons of oil broke releasing countless gallons of oil into the water. It became known as ??????The BP Oil Spill.??????
People, plants, animals, and their habitats were affected. The fishing industry plummeted. Many birds, fish, and other animals that depend on the sea for one reason or another were killed, maimed or covered by the oil.
The government, the US Coast Guard, and BP assured everyone that every thing was fine. The oil that had seeped out was not much, they said. It could be cleaned up quickly and efficiently. Or so we thought. It was proven otherwise when some hidden footage, regarding the leak, was revealed. The spill turned out to be greater than originally depicted to be. Scientists say that if they had been released earlier, it may have been easier to tackle.
Were there some things that could have been done to prevent this spill? Were there some things that can be done to keep this from ever happening again? What even was the cause of the spill? Who truly is to blame? People ask these questions repeatedly. Many people blame the government. Others blame BP for even mining there.
There are some things that could have been done to avoid the leak from occurring. Well, the world will probably always somewhat depend on fossil fuels, particularly oil and natural gas. We should be able to cut down on our use and reliance on them. We should use stuff like windmills, solar power, and all the hybrid kind of things.
The spill may have been caused by safety regulation breaches. It was said that the inspection officers may have been bribed, but there is no case for there is no evidence. This would save BP some money. The inspection administrator and the BP officials were quote ??????too cosy?????? unquote. If this is true, it is very wrong: a federal offence.
The truth is that the answer is not to sit around and say, ??????They did it!?????? ??????No, they did it!?????? But, to put their heads together and try to think of an effective solution. I am pleased to say that they have at lest tried to think of a remedy to the problem. They have tried several things and asked the public their ideas.
