On Saturday the things at Louisiana raised worries of an ecological and financial catastrophe rivaling Katrina, as oil was seen at the top of Louisiana shores. An official at the spot said that “hundreds of boats have been deployed to lay thousands of feet of inflatable boom in an effort to keep the Gulf Coast oil spill from reaching shore”.
The Coast Guard estimates that about 200,000 gallons of oil are spreading out each day since the April 20 explosion that killed 11 workers. The oil spill has enlarged exponentially in size, from 1000 barrels a day to 5000 barrels of petrol leaked each passing day.
