United States of America, a developed country - with an almost steady growth rate and job offering capacity - is one of the most powerful countries in the world. But, power brings responsibilities, which seek strict adherence and a careful watch. Somewhere America’s high rate of progress process overlooked the importance of warmth of a happy family, true love and affection, kind gestures, goodness of values and virtues, growing up with feeding our soul, nourishing with humbleness and satisfaction etc. Low on these humane qualities and high on materialism has brought emotional and mental sickening in American society.

This doesn’t imply that whole country is lacking on the noble deed although the rot has infested deeply and weakened the joyous state, making it money- oriented place with people inclined towards worldly show-off, weighing happiness with status symbol. Nothing can be worse than this pathetic and selfish way of living life. Happiness lies in spreading joy, cultivating peace and harmony. Not what’s in our pocket but what’s the intensity of gratitude is in our heart?

Sadly, the capitalist country failed in recognizing the halo effect of society with a holy, spiritual soul, which is capable of suppressing such shocking tragedies.

American concept: possessing arms (gun, rifle) for protection or recreational activities (like hunting) allowed under laws is practiced by majority. Most of the households have legally secured one or many guns and rifles. The concept is vigorously followed but living with its consequences was not given a thought. In this case, the Adam Lanza’a mother had three rifles. They should have been kept away from children, but this utmost responsibility was not taken into consideration. Consequently innocent children paid the price with their lives.

Definitely, gun-control laws should be brought to contain mass killing. This alone can’t guarantee a safe and violent-free living. People should be properly screened for their mental conditions before allowing them to own such disastrous arms. Licenses to own military type weapons shouldn't be given at all. Undeniably, the gun-violence will be slowed down. Committing these kinds of lunatic episodes will be not be so easy if such precautions are taken.

Besides gun prohibition; parents, elders, and teachers should make combined efforts to diagnose and check that young ones don’t grow-up with traits like extreme bratty behavior. Person suffering with mental disorder should be aided with proper treatments and cure.
