Guns given to authorities to protect or kill?
There have been instances that saw a man in power lose his mind and use his licensed gun for reasons other than security. Who is the culprit here; the man, gun or the liquor that pushes him to do these things?

TODAY HT Media posted two different cases of a drunkard police constable and an Ex Naik Subedar of Indian Army. Both happen to be from NCR, Delhi.

In the first case, the Police constable opened fire on the Bar personnel in Ghaziabad, for not allowing him to continue drinking even after mid night. He even fired rounds on PCR who were chasing him. The PCR after a long chase managed to arrest him. One of the chasing cops got hurt when his bike skidded on a turn.

In the other case, the retired Ex- Serviceman fired at the truck driver who did not allow him to overtake. On overtaking the truck, the Naik Subedar stopped his car in front of the truck and fired at the driver. The driver was lucky enough to escap unhurt.

In both the above cases due to over consumption of liquor there was unrest and frustration, which led to firing and luckily there was no casualty. Both the personnel were arrested for the unlawful act.
How can a security personnel take law in his hands, is beyond my comprehension. You may have a gun with its license but it does not mean that you fire at any one when the things don’t turn according to your liking. The gun is meant for your safety and not to kill an innocent person for nothing. No law can be of any help unless we all are well self-disciplined in our behaviour and activities.
