In a city of billboards where huge cardboard cut out of people stare, smile and dance for products, Gurgaon has taken an innovative step. They have not only changed the concept of billboards from advertisement to rejuvenation but has also put a smile on the faces of Gurgaoniites with the message, 'keep calm and enjoy life.'
Put up in various colours such as green and red, these boards are not only catching people's attention but also becoming the talk of the town. If you are yet to notice them and this article has piqued your interest, then look out for them near Shankar Chowk- Cyber City Area.
As was reported by TOI.com, Sumit Gupta director of Iconix Projects Pvt Ltd, who led the project said, "We had this free space in hand, which was not being used commercially at that point. So we thought of using the vacant spaces to put up these socially meaningful messages. Also, with the toll gone, we thought we'll give drivers a reason to drive calmly, not rashly, on the roads. The boards work because the crowd in the Cyber City area is such that everyone will understand the Keep Calm series and reference."
These billboards are not however the first for Gurgaon as message such as 'save the girl child' from the HUDA government is noticed around IIFCO Chowk metro station. The size of the billboards cannot be compared. But the initiative is no doubt creating a lot of enthusiasm among the citizens.
