Taking a serious note of the poorly trained drivers running school buses in Gurgaon, the city traffic police has asked school authorities to get them trained from recognized driving schools.
THE SCHOOLS have been asked by the authorities to get their act in order by October 31. Recently, the Gurgaon Traffic police had launched a Road Safety Knowledge Centre in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki to train the drivers. The Commissioner of Police SS Deswal at the launch of this centre had urged the school authorities to ensure that drivers are trained and also receive certification after undergoing training on the simulator.

In a recent communique to the school authorities, traffic authorities have made it clear that untrained drivers will not be allowed to drive school buses. The police officials have also referred to the umpteen accidents caused by the callousness of the untrained drivers, who put lives of young children in danger.
It is pertinent to mention that Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued strict instructions as far as plying of school buses is concerned. Allowing untrained drivers to run buses is a serious violation of rules, and according to the High Court directive, a bus driver must have five years of experience and a valid driving licence before being allowed to run a school bus. Drivers can obtain a proficiency certificate from the Road Safety Knowledge Centre as it accepted by the RTO, while issuing licenses.
