A tender for buying 60 low-floor air-conditioned and non-air conditioned buses, which would be run on CNG has been floated for Gurgaon. It has also been proposed that state transport department be expanded and new posts for Faridabad and Gurgaon be created to ensure that these cities are served in a proper manner.
In Gurgaon, the fleet of 100 buses will be run on 8 to 10 routes that have been chalked out meticulously by the department. It also plans to connect Gurgaon with Manesar, Dhaula Kuan and Karol Bagh in Delhi through this service, which will have a 10 minute frequency.
Senior officials said that the deparment is committed to serve these two cities as large number of commuters are suffering due to inadequate transport facilities. Incidentally, both Gurgaon and Faridabad are the most industrialised cities of the state and contribute a massive chunk of revenue to the state exchequer.
