The frequent power cuts in Gurgaon have started-especially during weekends, when one thinks of taking a long nap during the day or aims to cook long lunches and dinner for family. The summers have barely started in Gurgaon and this is not a good sign as more and more localities face power cuts.
Trying to understand the power situation of Gurgaon, we had a
word with Dakshin Haryana
Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) General Manager, Sanjeev Chopra who said that power
cuts are result of local work permit, given to change wires or
maintain the power supply of the city. He further said, ''There is no
power supply shortage in Gurgaon, infact, we are at a power surplus
for the next 4 years.''
Emphasizing on the fact, he also said
that local work permits are given on work days and not on Sundays as
people stay at home. However, the data supplied by DHBVN shows that
power supplied after April 20 was higher than the amount supplied in
the same period this month.
Alekhya Bolla, a resident of
Gurgaon agreed to the power cuts and said, '' power cuts have started
with the summer, although Sundays are a relief as there is hardly any
power cut till now.''
