Gurgaon NGO protests against MCG chief
Things did not look rosy at the MCG commissioner's office yesterday in Civil Lines, Gurgaon as a number of protesters gathered around the office who were protesting against the MCG Chief, Praveen Kumar. The protest, which is said to have been organised by NGO Parivartan Sangh, lasted for more than five hours.
''The protest was against Mr. Praveen Kumar, MCG chief. Rakesh Jhangu, the founder of the NGO had submitted a memorandum, which was against the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to the MCG chief but it was rejected and the chief also misbehaved,'' said Renu Yadav, office Coordinator for Parivartan Sangh.

The STP located at Dhanwapur is said to be posing a hazardous risk to the people in the nearby areas, as it releases toxic gases. As a result of which, the NGO wants the treatment plant to be shifted to another place - which does not pose a major risk to the lives of people.

But, people are not only frustrated with STP, but they have also been angered by the demolition drive carried out by MCG in Nathpur village. The villagers have sought for compensation, for the buildings that have been brought down by the MCG. Many claim that the demolition drive had taken place to fulfill some private builders.

The demolition drive was primarily carried out by the MCG chief. The NGO is also against the demolition drive, which took place in Nathpur. Along with the founder of the NGO, Mr. Rakesh, he was also accompanied with a number of volunteers from the NGO and people from the neighbouring areas as well.
