The police is keeping a special watch on railway station, bus stand and other crowded places, officials said. Gurgaon being a IT and BPO hub has assumed special significance as an incident here could jolt the business confidence across the country. Ever increasing floating population in Gurgaon also poses a threat and also the arrival of several thousand Bangladeshi nationals, who are residing in the city illegaly, said a local resident. He also alleged that Gurgaon police lacked the manpower and resourced to ensure the safety and security of residents.

It is mentionable that the city also does not have a solid disaster management system and any eventually would test the city administration. A high-profile project to instal CCTV cameras across the city for effective surveillance has remained in files only. Officials claim that the work is on and this project would be implemented soon, but it seems they will need a major jolt to get out of slumber.
