Gurgaon Police increases protection for women on Valentine's day
The world is celebrating Valentine's day and it seems that the Gurgaon Traffic Police wants nothing more then to make it a special day for the residents in the millennium city. Thus, don't be surprised if you drop in a mall in Gurgaon and feel there are too many police people around - it is meant to be as a Valentine Day's special, for women and couples.

The Gurgaon traffic police have increased police personnels in shopping malls, metro stations, office areas and other crowded places across the city. To provide maximum protection to women, they have also increased the number of women police personnel in the city.

If you are planning to have a drink with one of your colleagues after work and drive home in your car/bike, then today might not be the best of days as police would be on the lookout for drunk drivers across the city. They are trying to decrease the crime rate in the city on the day, which is initiated due to drinks and often Valentines' brawl. A number of residents are happy about the initiative, while a few are not so jubilant.

A resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, “I am married for 7 years now and have a 3 year old daughter. I don't go out on Valentines day so it doesn't affect me directly. Having said that, it is always good to have more police personnel and valentines day can be quite troublesome for some, so it is a good initiative.” Allekhya Bolla, another resident of Gurgaon, however is not so confident about the change in scenario with more police people, “ I don't think, this will make any difference. Because in a city like Gurgaon with vast corporate culture, the people are very well behaved here. And won't create any kind of ruckus.”
