Gurgaon Rapid Metro ridership figures take a dip after fare increase
No one knew about the consequences, when Gurgaon Rapid Metro increased its fare from Rs 12 to 20 since August 1. With rise in fares, some people have decided not to take the rapid metro, which has led to low ridership, but the rapid metro has earned more revenue in the process. Though, Rapid Metro does not agree that there has been any dip in ridership.

''There has not been much change in the ridership figures since the time the fare has been increased. The change has not been noticeable; we are still studying the pattern and analyzing it. It is too early to say whether or not there is a dip. We will be able to comment on the trend only after a week," said a Rapid Metro spokesperson, reported The Times of India.

Ridership figures released by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday reflect that 19,855 passengers who used the Delhi Metro network also took the Rapid Metro. However, if one looks into the figures for July 21 (when Rapid metro fares were still Rs 12) the figure stood at 22, 543, which proves about the downfall.

Irrespective of the fares, which have increased, those people whose travelling are made comfortable by Rapid Metro will definitely travel on the same, primarily in summers, where air conditioners inside the metros provide them with the much needed relief. Along with it, most girls also feel safe to travel by Rapid Metro.
