Gurgaon resident maligned by monkeys: Gurgaon hospital fails to provide medicine
Gurgaon and monkey's goes hand in hand. So much so that there is a forced co-existence between these two species. However, in recent times there have been some disturbing instances when monkeys have started attacking humans in Gurgaon. A most recent incidence saw a 31 year old lady being attacked by four monkeys at Sector 23 in Gurgaon.
What was worse was the fact that Gurgaon
hospitals and even AIIMS failed to provide the hapless lady with the vaccine required for monkey bite. In a place, which is infested with monkeys, it is imperative that these hospitals stock up the anti-monkey vaccine.
As was reported by timesofindia.com, the person maligned recounted her story. Alka Sharma, who is a Sector 23 resident said, '' I saw this monkey coming towards me and I decided not to move so as not to provoke the animal. But then I saw three more monkeys running towards me. They surrounded me and bit my leg and left arm, leaving a deep gash. They also scratched my arms.''
On arriving at Medicity Gurgaon she was disappointed to find out that the vaccine required was not available. Nor did Columbia Asia, Fortis or AIIMS had this medicine. She however got it in Safdarjung Hospital. Talking about it a doctor said that the vaccine supply is very low and the vaccine is manufactured by Israeli pharmaceutical company Kamada and they are not easily available in Delhi NCR.
