Gurgaon residents expect the new government to remove Kherki Daula toll plaza
Last August, around 300 people thrashed employees of the Skylark Highway Solutions at Kherki daula toll plaza on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. Around 200 people were arrested after the incident. While campaigning for elections, Rao Inderjit Singh had promised the people of Gurgaon that he would look into the matter. Now that Haryana has a new government, people of Gurgaon, living near Kherki Daula are waiting for the authorities to act.

Trying to understand the situation we had a word with Rao Inderjit's personal assistant. He informed that to deal with this problem, Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had reviewed the toll and ordered the Pink city Expressway Private Limited to build six lanes before the toll plaza within 9-10 months. This desicion was taken some months back.

Neeraj Kumar, personal assistant of Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh from Gurgaon said, ''Viewing such undesired incidents increasing day by day, Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh met Union transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari few months ago. To remove kherki daula toll plaza, the company known as Pink city expressway, was instructed by Nitin Gadkari to make six lanes ahead of toll plaza. This special purpose vehicle company was given a time of 9-10 months to uproot the toll. Now we hope to get rid of this problem soon.''

R. S. Rathee, President of Gurgaon Citizens Council said, ''Newly elected government should take relevant steps to remove Kherki daula toll plaza. It has been headache for the many people in Gurgaon for a long time. We will also send a letter to the state government tomorrow regarding the removal of this toll. We will support the government in this move as we did in the past during removal of Sirhaul toll plaza.''
