It was on the Saturday evening when one Bheem Singh, resident of the Basai village, was taking his cattle for gazing near the railway lines when he saw the 2 day old infant lying dead. He immediately informed the Police.
Very strangely, the police of the area does not term the crime as a 'foul play,' and says that the investigation is going on the matter.
Bhagwan Das, SHO of Sector 10, said, ''It does not look like there is any foul play in this matter. We are carrying out the investigations and soon will reach to some conclusion. It is a matter of shame that the infant, just 2 days old, was dumped and left to die. We have kept the body for further examinations.''
It is not the first case of this sort that has been reported so far. On 7 April, 2014, the body of a newborn girl was found near a Rapid Metro station on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road. Police said that it is a hideous crime that cannot be forgiven easily and the guilty deserve rightful punishments.
About 11 cases of infants being abandoned were recorded in 2013, of which seven were boys and four were girls. Female infanticide can also be one the reasons, but till the culprits are found everything is speculation.
