Gurgaon to save water this Holi
This Holi Gurgaon is taking a pledge to save water. Various NGOs in Gurgaon have come together and appealed people not to waste water this year on the occasion of Holi. One of them, Urja Samiti, headed and run by MCG appealed to people here to not to use water in celebrating Holi this year and save it for summers.

“Water is our life source and to waste it is not a human act but to save and utilise water in proper manner should be the main responsibility of all of us as human beings.”

“It is not necessary to celebrate Holi with water only. We can express our joy and happiness with colors and flowers only and there is no need to use water which creates sludge around the city,” General Secretary of Urja Samiti, Sanjay Chugh said.

He also said that by saving water through these kinds of ways and means, Gurgaon people can balance the demand and supply of water this summer and even in future. As per the records, demand for drinking water has been continuously increasing in Gurgaon from last year in every summer, and authorities are unable to resolve deficiency crisis of water.

High Court had even banned the usage of land water in construction work by builders and developers. This had severely affected the construction work in the city.

To maintain the level of ground water, the government had to take these steps and keep an eye on every illegal boring activity in the city. It also acted strictly against those who had not availed legal permission before digging out ground water.

“In festive season, demand for energy resources like water, electricity shoots up and that is why it becomes more important for people to support and save water. Saving water and using it in appropriate manner will not be only in personal interest but it is also in the interest of the nation. We can together make this situation better,” Chug added.

He also believed that instead of wasting money and water, people can celebrate Holi with more peace and harmony and make environment pollution-free and inspire people of other cities and states.
