OUT OF 50 that joined the force on Friday almost half are women and they will be part of the anti-drunk mobile squads formed to check the menace of drunk driving. It must be mentioned that outgoing Commissioner of Police SS Deswal had criticised the citizens of Gurgaon for drunk driving and called for saner action from their side. In addition to this, the number of inspectors on the expressway have been increased from one to three thus making it easier for cops to keep a check on the increasing traffic.
One inspector will keep a watch between Badshahpur-Sohna road, another between Rajiv Chowk and Kheri Daula, and the third one between Sirhol tol Plaza and Rajiv Chowk. The traffic department has also decided to post 15 more cops on IFFCO chowk to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
The decision has been taken after a report was sought by the new police commissioner, who it seems has decided to increase the number of cops in traffic department. The women cops, who have been deputed to traffic department will challan the women drivers, if they are found drunk as the city is witnessing large number of such cases.
Three mobile squads have also been formed to ensure that trafic bottlenecks in the city are cleared on priority.
