Gurgaon traffic police works to decongest traffic in the millennium city
Giving details of various traffic decongestion and re-routing plans being enforced, DCP Traffic Gurgaon Sh. Vinod Kaushik informed that Gurgaon Traffic Police team with the help of Road safety organization team led by Road Safety officer Sh. Neeraj Diwan have been working across multiple locations and have got significant success as well.

Key locations which have been covered in last 3-4 months time are Bilaspur, Signature tower, Sector 31 crossing and the team is currently working at IFFCO chowk.

At Bilaspur, diversion has been enforced for heavy vehicles which has benefited the entire areas traffic movement and significantly cut down a typical waiting time of 15-20 minutes at the location during peak hours to uninterrupted traffic flow.

Signature tower, major crossing used by traffic to come across NH-8, used to be heavily congested especially during morning and evening peak hours with people required to wait for 10-15 minutes to cross the red-light. With rerouting of traffic, now there is only a 30 seconds waiting and the crossing is free from any pileup.

Sector 31, another critical crossover on NH-8, stayed congested due to narrow road and small underpass available under the highway. With traffic re-routing, now there is no stopping at this point traffic moves uninterrupted. This plan was not in force for last week due to change in staff at the location, but will be implemented again starting from the coming week.

And IFFCO chowk, one of the busiest crossing of Gurgaon used by traffic to come across NH-8 and use Mehrauli Gurgaon Road, used to be heavily congested especially during morning and evening peak hours with people required to wait for 10-12 minutes to cross the red-light. For the morning peak hours, with minor rerouting of traffic, so far we have reduced the waiting time to one traffic signal cycle, which means waiting time of about 2 minutes. for the traffic coming from Jaipur side and about 1 minute for traffic on MG Road. Further almost 30-40 per cent of MG Road traffic goes through in single pass without stopping at this traffic light. For evening, the team is still working out most efficient traffic movement plan.

Sh. Kaushik also congratulated the RSO team and GTP staff involved in these drives on these wonderful accomplishments and asked everyone to continue the wonderful work to ensure smooth sail for all Gurgaon Road users.
