Gurgaon's fiasco with event continues: Kids fashion show organisers run away with money
After the last Gurgaon fashion week fiasco in April, it was now a kid's fashion show that saw the event organizers, promoters of Vaishnavi Event Organization, run away with money leaving employees and participants at lurch. The employees, who were not paid two month's salary filed a diary with the Sushant Lok Police station and investigation is going. To understand more as to how a god fearing man and a loving father chalked out this entire plan, you would have to read further on.

The man, who never was:

Amit Gupta, along with his wife Hema Rani set up a company by the name 'Vaishnavi event organisation' not long back in Sushant Vyapar Kendra. His main aim was to organise Gurgaon's first Kids fashion show and the show-stopper of the show would have been his 3 year old daughter Vaishnavi. God fearing and a loving father, his aspiration was to make his daughter famous via the show. The employees of the company (around 8-9 people) felt that the man had this passion and wanted to be a part of his dream and he joined his company, little knowing that they would be doped of their money and peace of mind.

Employees version:

Satish Sabharwal, who joined Vaishnavi event organisation as the event co-ordinator was much impressed with Gupta and gave his 100 per cent to make the fashion show a hit in the city. Pamphlets were distributed, broacher were made and a website was designed. Real trouble brewed up when the employees did not receive two months of salary. Sabharwal talking about the incident said, '' We were not given salary for two months. When we asked him, he used to avoid the topic and when we insisted once, he promoted me to the post of Senior Marketing Manager. However, one day, he just stopped coming to office. We had to file a diary with the Sushant Lok Police station of fraud. We also learnt that he has taken around 70,000 rupees from the office owner and is yet to return it as well as the cab, which he hired still had to be paid around 33,000 rupees. He did give the cab owner a cheque, but that bounced.''

Adding further to the case, he said, ''The July 12 event was supposed to happen in Kingdom of Dreams, but apart from a contract, Gupta had not paid any advance to the KOD guys.'' When on persistent asking they did not receive the salary and got to know of the money troubles and could not trace the person, Satish and other employees filed a diary on 28 June 2014.

Putul Mukherjee, another employee, who used to work as event execution said, ''We got suspicious when he was avoiding us on certain times. We wanted to file an FIR with the Police, but they would only do a diary and not a FIR.''

Police's version:

The police spoke on the matter and said, ''We have been tracing the numbers, which has been provided to us by the employees, but if we look into the matter then it is not a police case and the employees should go to consumer court. However, since they have reported fraud, hence we did hunt the driver, who worked with the accused for 4 days, but realized he was not in the knowhow of the case, so we let him go.''

The source also said, '' He has just taken 2000 rupees from 47 people, which if you really think is not that much. There must have been some problems, which made him do this. I am sure that he is not a bad person, just caught in some bad situation. Also, when anyone joins a company, they should sign contract, but these people never signed any contract and there is no legal papers with them.

Other people's versions:

While the parents remained elusive and did not want to talk about the matter or the money they lost, there were few who said what they had to say on the matter. The Vaishnavi event Organisation

website designer Rajeev said, ''I had no idea what was going on and even now the website is running. Until and unless I receive information from Amit Gupta, I can't stop the site. I have received my payment in full and so I was never suspicious.''

A representative from Kingdom of Dreams, who doesn't want to be named also said, '' we were just at the initial part of our negotiation and nothing much has happened.''

This is not the only time when Gurgaon became a victim of fraud event organizers. In the past, merinews have reported how a high profile fashion show turned out to be a damp squib after the organizers ran away with money at the last moment. The case regarding the same is still pending with the police and the defaulter still untraceable. There had been other cases in 2011 where organizers of a cancelled rock show by Metallica were arrested for similar fraud.
