Guruharsahai MLA denies having received any notice from DAC Punjab Congress
Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Congress MLA from Guruharsahai in a press release, has denied having received any issue of show-cause notices by G..Chatrath, Chairman of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of Punjab Congress to two MLAs including him- Kewal Dhillon and Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi.

Sodhi said, Chatrath is a senior and sensible leader, who should not have indulged into such an irresponsible vilification campaign against me and my colleague Kewal Singh Dhillon, without verifying the factual position.”

Talking on logic, he said he had vigorously campaigned for Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sunil Jakhar, who was party candidate from Ferozepur. Not only this but also, he had campaigned jointly with Jakhar in his constituency of Guruharsahai, where they had addressed rallies.

Sodhi said, Chatrath being a senior and seasoned leader, need to be impartial and unbiased while speaking about such sensitive issues which create very bad image of our party in the public. At least, Chatrath should have verified the facts from Jakhar who has not lodged any complaint with the DAC. He further said, Gurkanwal Kaur, former MLA and member of the Disciplinary Committee, had also sought resignation of Bajwa on account of poor performance of Congress under his leadership.”

He said Chatrath by taking unilateral decision for issuing show-cause notices to him and Dhillon has kept aside all the rules to the winds by not convening the DAC meeting.
Sodhi said, “I received a telephonic call from Bhag Singh, former MLA and DAC member, who has confirmed that it can be the individual view of Chatrath as no meeting has taken place even to discuss this issue”.

“Chatrath’s autocratic attitude exhibits that have fallen into the trap of Bajwa, who is under the illusion that he would be the chief minister in 2017, which he has been claiming during the election campaign, to get the post of Punjab advocate general. Instead of seeking explanation from Bajwa for losing by a huge margin of more than 1,37,000 votes in his home turf, Chatrath has trained his guns on loyal and devoted workers of the Congress. This is highly partisan attitude nonetheless expected from a seasoned and experienced leader like Chatrath,” Sodhi said.

He said, rather Bajwa should be answerable to the people about the poor performance of Congress in Punjab when the recently constituted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had taken more seats than Congress. He said, at the time of allotment of tickets to candidates, Bajwa had misguided the Election Committee with the result there is worst performance in the Punjab by the Congress.

Sodhi asserted that he is true Soldier of Congress and working with the party for the last 35 years and even his family members have left no stone unturned in serving the Congress party. He said, he is winning the Guruharsahai Assembly seat since 2002 regularly and he is committed to honour the interests of the party and workers of his constituency but he has no faith in DAC committee constituted under the leadership of Chattrath.

He said, he will reply with logics on receipt of any notice from the party.
