Hair and makeup artist Zuleikha Stevens helps to bring back 'TRL' to MTV Australia
Every day is different for renowned hair and makeup artist Zuleikha Stevens, and that is why she loves what she does. Not only does she get to try different styles of makeup, but she is always working with new people; new faces; new canvases for her to show her talent to the world. Doing makeup, as she says, is magical.

"As a makeup artist you are always meeting fascinating people with remarkable stories. It can take you everywhere and anywhere in the world. It is a feel-good career that allows creativity and excitement and I am so lucky to be living my passion every day," she said.

Stevens has worked all over the world, from her home of Australia to London, Indonesia, Samoa, Mexico, and everywhere in between, with renowned production companies like Fremantle Media, Endemol Shine, and Warner Bros. Her work has been seen in hit reality shows like Married at First SightFarmer Wants A WifeMy Kitchen RulesTabooFamily Feud, and so many more, as well as hit series Mr. In Between and the acclaimed movie Gringo, and across iconic Australia Networks like 7 ,9, 10, ABC, SBS, and beyond. In the fashion industry she has worked on magazine shoots and runway shows for Fashion Week, and worked on celebrities and musicians, directors, producers, actors, photographers, and models from all over the world.  Undoubtedly, she is at the top of her game.

A highlight of Stevens' career was working on MTV, an iconic TV Network in Australia and, of course, around the world. Everyone has heard of MTV, and Stevens is the go-to makeup artist for many of its shows. She works with Ash London, Angus O'Laughlin and Lisa Hamilton on TRL (Total Request Live), as well as music acts such as Ziggy Alberts, Conrad Saul and Yo Raps and the promo for the first season of Australian Teen Mom.

"It's so amazing working with such a worldwide iconic brand. MTV has been the epitome of cool for forever and since watching it many years ago it now feels so wonderful that I get to work on shows here in Australia that have worldwide recognition. Being the Makeup Artist for Hosts Ash London, Angus O'Laughlin and Lisa Hamilton and creating looks week after week to keep that cool iconic MTV vibe happening here in Australia is a dream come true," she said.

Stevens' good eye for detail and color was vital in getting the hosts ready to begin working every day. She made sure to listen to the wants and needs of whoever was in her chair, knowing that having their hair and makeup perfect was essential in allowing them to feel like the best version of themselves, which largely contributed to the show's success. With every week, Stevens always worked to bring something unique to each episode to keep that fresh, young, fun and cool vibe of the network.

"I liked working on TRL as it is fun, fresh, trendy and showcases live music. I could do a variety of makeup looks and working with the amazing talent/hosts was wonderful. I looked forward to filming every week.  The crew was so great as well and the more I get to work on one of MTVs hit projects the more I am filled with excitement. It is great to work on this sort of network, with the laughs, the music, and the wonderful cast and crew. Getting to showcase my hair and makeup skills to a new and different dynamic and station and demographic is exciting, and especially on this worldwide platform," she said.

Upon TRL's return to programming this year, it has been a huge hit for MTV, and Stevens could not be prouder. It feels wonderful for her that she helped make the show a success, taking an iconic brand and show and bringing an Australian version. It took lots of hard work, but it was well worth it.

"Doing the makeup and hair for MTV and TRL was so great. To have the opportunity to help bring the hosts looks to the screen differently and wonderfully every week was an amazing experience. It was helping them look and feel good and provide wonderful hosting time after time," she concluded.
