Hamilton's victory at US Grand Prix throws F1 championship wide open
With Hamilton winning the US Grand Prix and Sebastian Vettel finishing second, the F1 drivers' championship might be a fight between Alonso and Vettel in the final Grand Prix of the season - US Grand Prix.

LEWIS HAMILTON showed his true class in the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of Americas. It was a huge satisfaction for the Brit driver, who is well ahead of Sebastian Vettel as far as the driver standings are concerned (point difference of more than 80). Vettel who was in the pole position during the start of the race was favourite for the US Grand Prix as well like many other F1 races.

The US Grand Prix witnessed the best of Lewis Hamilton, as he overtook Vettel while the latter was comfortably placed ahead of everyone else. It was a thrilling pass at the end of the long straightway to take the lead in the race, reported espn.go.com. After which, the Brit driver took full control of the race in a tough battle against Vettel, who was in the constant lookout to overtake Hamilton. As a result of which, it was Vettel and Fernando Alonso who finished the race second and third respectively.

But even with this finish, it is Vettel, who looks in commanding position for the 2012 Drivers championship, with 273 points in his bag this season. Fernando Alonso is the closest to the German driver with 260 points. And as far as the constructor standings are concerned, Red Bull is at the number one position with 440 points.

But, Vettel cannot take things for granted with the last F1 race of the season – Brazilian Grand Prix scheduled on November 25. Alonso is close to his heels and a victory for Alonso in the final race day of the season with Vettel not finishing on the top four might handover the lead and the 2012 F1 crown to Alonso.
