2. Happiness may also bring many problems, such as physical unfitness, stress etc. When a person does not have anything to eat, he or she becomes unhappy. The moment he or she gets enough food to eat, he or she becomes happy in respect of hunger. In this way, item-wise requirements are increased one after the other in our list of desires. So, happiness is endless. Somebody likes to eat more, and becomes happy after fulfilling his or her long cherished desire for delicious dishes.
We see then, how some illnesses starts due to unrestricted eating. In the same way, someone may have a yearning for money at any cost – legally or illegally. Then there arise the problems of concealing the illegal money, or the property. And so also comes the problem of how to spend illegal money or enjoy the property, to obtain happiness.
The income tax evader may have another problem from the Taxation Department. Illegal money from bribes invites also stress. How to avoid being detected? It is a logical worry. What if someone might have discovered it?
These worries are harmful to a normal peaceful life. So, happiness may bring many bad side effects, like depression, unease, stress, etc. at last.
1. Peace is something different from happiness. In a simple life, we may confuse Happiness with Peace. Peace is only possible when there will be not so much involvement with stress. Ultimately, when a person becomes happy from material and physical (sex) satisfaction, peace may knock at him or her as a next and last call. That’s why we see sometimes an elderly person sigh and ask the ones around him or her, if he or she could be left to die in peace.
2. So we should aim for peace in our life, not for happiness.
3. Happiness is a natural process of any living being. It has to come in everyone’s life by a natural demand from one’s body, for all kind of life form – animals and human beings.
4. But peace has to be acquired through some particular mental exercises, as required in keeping the body fitness by physical exercises. This can be developed through some process of building mentality in a line of direction towards the goal, or aim for Peace.
5. Peace is also obtained through meditation, which is an ancient practice from India, to achieve peace. And this practice has now already been accepted universally, and also scientifically.
