Happy Independence Day: Save Rs 2 on every litre of petrol from mid-night
From the mid-night of August 14/15 one can save Rs. 2 on every litre of petrol S/he would buy. The announcement by the state-run oil marketing companies came one day in advance from the date of scheduled review of the petrol prices that is usually done on 16th of the every month.

After a tweet by petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday indicated that petrol prices could be slashed in the range Rs. 1.89 - Rs 2.38, the petroleum companies formally announced the cut in the fuel prices.

After the price reduction, petrol will be cheaper in Delhi by Rs 2.13. This is the second reduction in rates in a month and the steepest in 11 months. Last time petrol price was reduced by 90 paise on August 1.

Currently Kolkatans are bying fuel for their vehicles at Rs 80.30. After the price cut petrol will become cheaper by Rs. 2.27 in the city i.e. Rs 78.03. Mumbaikers will also enjoy a price reduction of Rs 2.28 for the every litre of petrol they would be buying. In Chennai petrol will become cheaper by Rs 2.31 (Rs 73.47 against Rs 75.48).

People have expressed their happiness over the reduction of petrol prices by more than Rs 2.
