Puran Poli is a buttery roti or flatbread stuffed with jaggery, yellow softened gram dal and cardamom powder and served with some light and thin hot sugar syrup called gulawani. However, for Ugadi festival day, Bevu Bella is prepared and served as Prasadam also.
For preparing Bevu Bella, soak tamarind in hot water for about 15 minutes to have thick and watery medium. Thereafter, add grated jaggery or gur into the pulp to make it get dissolved completely. Lastly, add all the remaining ingredients such as neem flowers, salt, a pinch of chilli powder, chopped banana and mango pieces. Shake the mixture well. The recipe is ready to be served.
