Harayana to install fingerprint scanners at border checkposts to nab criminals
Haryana has decided to install fingerprint scanners at various border checkposts within the state, with the hope of putting a check upon the crime rate in the state. These scanners would have details about 1 lakh criminals and such people would be nabbed at the border before they enter into state's territory.

WORRIED AT the recent spurt in crime rate, Haryana government has decided to install fingerprint scanners at the various border checkposts, which will scan the people entering into the state territory.

There are around 30 such checkposts, where these scanners would be installed and visitors can be randomly checked by the police manning the posts. The finger print scanners would contain information of around 1 lakh criminals along with their pictures, fingerprints, track records etc, reported Indian Express. The scanner costing Rs 1 lakh each would be made operational in a fortnight.

This decision seems to have been taken after the State Crime Records Bureau study revealed that around 20 percent of the crimes, which take place in the state related to property are found to have been committed by people coming from nearby states and other districts.

But, the police might have to act very wisely and not cause any sort of harassment to the aam aadmi stopping each and every car, while they conduct such checks. These policemen actually need to have some kind of an expert at the scene, who would be able to understand the human behaviour and catch those criminals. But, all in all, it is a great initiative that has been taken by Haryana Police for the safety of citizens.

Though it demands that the residents of the state remain patient during these check-ups, but on the flip side, it would give an opportunity to corrupt policemen to fleece people in the name of security. One thing that police officers need to make sure is that poor people from the states like West Bengal and Bihar who mostly do menial jobs in Gurgaon are not unnecessarily targeted and harassed.
