You may believe it or you may not. A 31-year old Indonesian woman has reportedly given birth neither a boy nor a girl, but a lizard.
The woman namely Debi Nubatonis in a remote Indonesian village of
Oenunto, after her eight month long pregnancy, gave birth to the
gecko as claimed by the the midwife, who went to assist in the delivery, as there was
no time left to take Nubatonis to a hospital, as reported by Deccan
Chronicle.
The entire incident reportedly took
place in the month of May 2014. However, now people in the village have
been accusing Nubatonis of practising witchcraft. And now the entire debate on this controversial birth has gone into Internet.

However, the scientists have rejected
Nubatonis’ claims, saying that, till now there never have been
reports of an organism from one species giving birth to an organism
from a different species all together. Teams of researchers have been
sent to the village to investigate the case.
As quoted by India Today, Dr Messe Ataupa, Chief
Medical Officer of nearby Kupang city while refuting the claims made
by the midwife and Nubatonis said that it was just a phantom pregnancy
or pseudocyesis where there was never a child although the woman
would have had many of the symptoms.
He further said, “There might have been some
discharge during 'birthing' which could have landed on the lizard
leading to the confusion and belief that the woman had given birth to
a gecko."
