Hardly any media coverage for Billiards Champion Pankaj Advani
Even a slight extra coverage by the media can boost the morale of a sportsman - for that matter it can be encouraging for any person in any sphere of work Cash award or an allotment of a plot will not suffice.

PANKAJ ADVANI picked up his 7th World Billiards title the other day defeating Mike Russell at Leeds in the UK. It’s very unfortunate to observe that other than our Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh none else congratulated him on his splendid achievement nor did the media, the way it should have.

Pankaj, a youngster, is earning a golden name for the country not only in Billiards but even in Snooker. I remember once he had a clash in the competition dates for Billiards and Snooker but he took a bold decision, and opted for Billiards. He not only won the competition but lifted the World Title too. That shows his loyalty to the game.

The days have gone when Indian Hockey was the on the top while now Boxing, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis and Cricket are earning a good name for the country. Our media must give the sportsmen their due coverage when they are advancing so well in their respective field. The media has a significant role to play in promoting as well as bringing better understanding among readers in a particular sport.

Wish we could keep dirty Politics away form the Selection. In case proper Training is imparted with the provision of god infrastructure  , our Country will once again will be on the top of Hockey even.
