Haryana DGP ensures 90-year-old retired inspector is cremated with full state honours
Haryana DGP, Baljit Sandhu has proved that he is not only a good police officer but also an equally good human being.
On Thursday, he came to know through social media that ninety-year-old retired Haryana Police inspector Chander Mohan Chhabra had died at Narwana village of Jind district in Haryana where he had been staying with his son.

He immediately directed the concerned authorities and ensured that Chhabra is cremated with full honours. A contingent of Haryana Police led by Kulwant Bishnoi, DSP Narwana laid a wreath of flowers on the Chhabra's on behalf of the DGP, and gave a salute.

Sandhu told Merinews that every cop, serving or retired, is his family member. Chandr Mohan Chhabra was known as tough cop. During his posting in Jind, he had successfully checked eve teasing in town.

This writer had long talk with him over a fortnight back and he had told interesting anecdotes about Haryana Police for my proposed book on Haryana Police. His memory was sharp. His son Sunil Chhabra thanked the DGP for his noble gesture.
