The talks between workers and Maruti Suzuki management had broken after the Gurgaon police held three office bearers of the unrecognised Maruti Suzuki Employee Union. Arrested over the charges of sabotage on Sunday, they were released on bail after two days.
The standoff between the two sides is continuing since August 29, after the management asked the workers to sign a good conduct bond. The minister, meanwhile, said that if a solution is not found soon, then the government will refer this matter to the labour court.
The establishment, meanwhile, is of the opinion that the matter should be referred to the labour court as both sides are sticking to their stands. Due to the intransigence, the labour department is now holding more of informal discussions and but no formal talks are going on. DL Sachdeva, general secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress, who has played a key role in the entire issue, said that no talks were being held with the worker unions. Maruti Suzuki also said that no talks were being held with workers but the company was holding talks with labour department to resolve the issue.
