Haryana power engineers to restart agitation
Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) has resolved to restart the agitation after they failed to get any assurance from the government on their long pending demands.
KD Bansal, President of the association said that to start with, the engineers would be holding gate meetings at zonal head quarters starting July 24. The first gate meeting will take place from tomorrow at Yamuna Nagar, Panchkula and Hissar.

The first meeting of a three-member committee comprising of Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Power Secretary was held on Monday to discuss the problems of power engineers. The three Managing Directors of Power utilities were also present in the meeting.

The 10 member engineers delegation was led by R S Dahiya Chairman NIPEF. The other members of delegation comprising of representatives from all four power utilities included K D Bansal, Hardeep Sangwan, Ranbir Deshwal.

The meeting discussed at length all the agenda items which included filling up the posts of director internally, proposed changes to the promotion policy for middle- and senior-level engineers, revision in lower pay scale of assistant engineers and restructuring of Discoms as per the work load norms.

None of the issues discussed could be clinched due to the biased attitude of at least one of the committee members towards engineers. All the long pending demands were opposed by this member.
