Haryana power generation engineers oppose extensions
The association of Haryana power generation engineers have written to the Chief Minister opposing extensions after retirements given to Directors and Chief Engineers working in Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL).

HARYANA POWER Generation Engineers Association has sought the intervention of Chief Minister and the Power Minister against allowing extension in service beyond the age of superannuation to Directors and Chief Engineers working in HPGCL.

The General Secretary of Association, in letters sent to Chief Minister and Power Minister, has drawn their attention to power ministers earlier directive to Financial Commissioner of October 15 2007 that stated “Re-employment definitely denies a chance of promotion to the employees, who are in service. This thus causes a certain amount of heart-burning, besides affecting the efficiency and morale of serving employees”

The letter maintains that such type of extension in HPGCL at the Director level is still continuing, which denies a chance of promotion and causes heart-burn to the employees, who are in service, thereby affecting the efficiency and morale of serving employees and consequently taking a heavy toll on the overall generation of the plant.

This matter was discussed by Engineers Associations with Power Minister on August 5, 2011 in the presence of all Managing Directors of power utilities and everybody was in view of that no extension be allowed beyond superannuation age of 58 years.

Some few chosen get the privilege of being elevated to higher managerial posts while others though equally efficient and competent face stagnation for a long period and are denied even their rightful and due rank on account of tampering with promotion channel.
