Radio Sirsa, the community radio station of the Mass Communication department of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa in Haryana has won the runners-up award at CEMCAC Community Radio Awards. The award was given for programme 'Hello Sirsa'.
THE COMMUNITY Radio Station of the Mass Communication department of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, in Haryana, has been adjudged runner-up in the CEMCAC Community Radio Awards for Good Practices.
The award was given to the station for its flagship programme 'Hello Sirsa'. Radio Sirsa, Station Director Virender Singh Chauhan, received the award from Arvind Kumar, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
CDLU Vice Chancellor Dr. KC Bhardwaj and Registrar Dr. Manoj Siwach have congratulated the Radio Sirsa team for this achievement of the station. Bhardwaj said Radio Sirsa has emerged as a platform where members of the local community not only get a chance to raise their collective problems but also receive their daily dose of healthy edutainment. Meanwhile, Samudayik Radio Shrota Sangh, an organisation of listeners of Radio Sirsa has also congratulated the Radio Sirsa team for bringing laurels to the people of Sirsa by winning an award at national level.
Radio Sirsa head, who also presents the award-wining show, said the First National Community Radio Sammelan held in Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi was a successful event as it gave ample opportunities to the CRS owners and managers to discuss their problems and challenges with senior functionaries of various ministries. While I&B Minister AmbiKa Soni inaugurated the Sammelan, senior officers from various ministries including agriculture, rural development, health and panchayati raj interacted with the participants. Apart from this the delegates shared their own experiences with others during this Sammelan.
