Haryana's Kurukshetra has its own Tirupati Balaji Temple now
In Kurukshetra, a few new temple complexes are coming up. One of them is Tirupati Balaji temple, which was opened to public last month and it has given boost to the religious tourism.

It was told during my recent visit to the city that on the weekends, the temple has been drawing several thousand devotees and visitors to come the South Indian style of temple which resembles the Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh.

The temple is spread over five acres of land close to the holy tank of Brahma Sarovar that has been built in four years by using massive sea rocks. It was in 2012 that the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) allotted land to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to construct the temple.

After a four-day ceremony of idol installation in June this year, the temple complex was inaugurated in July recently. The complex houses three temples with Lord Vishnu's idol in the sanctum sanctorum and the other two temples of 'Bhudevi' and 'Sridevi' are on the sides of the main temple. It is reported that several priests from the main temple from Tirupati are here to perform rituals.

Lord Venkateswara is the main deity of the Tirumala temple who is deemed an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and worshipped with different names such as Balaji, Srinivasa, Govinda, etc.

The temple trust will use the offerings and donations for running several health, welling, public welfare, environment conservation and education projects, it has been articulated. The district administration and the KDB will extend active support in the management of the temple affairs.

The temple has built at cost much beyond 30 crore of rupees of which about one-third has been donated by UK-based N Sethia Foundation.

The TTD is an independent trust which manages the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh.  Reportedly, it oversees the operations and finances of the second richest and the most visited religious centre in the world.

Its Dharma Prachara Parishad works for propagation the Hindu dharma; cultural heritage of India, temples' renovation as well as reconstructions and restoration of Hindu sculptures.
