A health camp was organised by Maa Panthei Self Help Cooperative Ltd at a remote village located within Baisipal areas who joined forces included Vasundhara, Bhubaneswar, Sanchar etc.
A ONE-day health check-up-cum-awareness camp was organised on March 29 2011 by Maa Panthei Self Help Cooperative Ltd in collaboration with Vasundhara, Bhubaneswar, Sanchar, Duspalla and Zilla Swasthya Samiti, Nayagarh, at Gochhabari a remote village located within Baisipalli Wildlife Sanctuary in Nayagarh district.
The area is well-known for various chronic diseases and the people confront with various healths hazardous. This apart, safe and clean drinking water is another major problem and occurrence of jaundice is also quite common. Due to poor communication within the sanctuary areas, the medical facilities have also not yet reached these villages. The cases of jaundice, Malaria and other chronic diseases are hence quite prevalent in these areas, and these diseases cause death in many cases.
More than 300 patients of very remote villages such as Purunapani, Senperi, Kuchumara, Osamaska, Buriapaju, Rekadi, Talabari, Endagadu, Badasilinga of the Baisipalli Sanctuary area came for free health check up and got medicine. A team of doctors consisting of Gynecologist, Pediatrics, Cardiologist, and Eye Specialist examined the health of the patient and gave free medicines. NRHM (National Rural Health Mission), Nayagarh extended their support by providing free medicines for the camp. The cooperative members displayed IEC materials related to various chronic diseases to bring health awareness among the community. The health camp was inaugurated by CDMO, Nayagarh. The health camp was supported by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and WWF, India and NRHM, Odisha.
