Healthy diet to keep your eyes healthy
Around 15 million people in India are blind, which in itself establishes the fact of the ever increasing eye problems in India, also other parts of the world. Hence, it has become all the more important to follow a diet plan that includes food, which helps in reducing such eye related problems.

An essential part of eye care is eating proper food, which contains the right vitamins to keep the eyes healthy. Eating proper foods can lower the risk of these diseases, which are increasing everyday. Given below are the list of food, which are good for the eyes.

Carrots – Rich in beta carotene, which protects the eye and reduces the risk of cataracts. Carrots can be easily included in your diet in the form of salads or vegetables, reported indiainteracts.

Turkey – A healthy option than red meat, it is said that turkey is effective in warding off cataract. Loaded with zinc and vitamin D, turkey is good food for your eyes. It tastes best in burgers and salads, and is also quite versatile.

Spinach – Along with carrots, spinach is probably one such food item that crops up in your mind, which helps in maintaining a healthy eye. Pack with beta carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, vitamin C and number of antioxidants, spinach works by absorbing more than 40 percent blue light intensity that may harm your eyes.

Fatty fish – The omega-3-fatty acid that are found in oily fishes like salmon, sardines, tuna and mackerel have all kinds of components, which benefit your health in general. Omega-3 helps in modulating the inflammation that can lead to dry eyes.

Beans – eating legumes is the best way to add zinc to our diet. Zinc helps in releasing vitamin A from the liver, which in turn is used by eye tissues. Zinc deficiency can cause deterioration of the macula, in retina of the eye.

Other foods rich in beta-carotene, zinc, vitamin C and E and omega-3-fatty acids are the ones, which you should have it in your diet chart to ensure excellent eye health. Add cherries, almonds, peanut butter, almond, avcados, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, corns, strawberries, berries, bell pepper and oranges in the diet as well.
