HEIDI MONTAG filed for legitimate separation from husband Spencer Pratt at Santa Monica courthouse, California, on Tuesday, June 7, 2010. The forlorn reality star was also photographed entering the building without her wedding ring.
Montag, 24, did not file for divorce; as legal separation means that Heidi's earnings will become hers alone from the date of separation. The couple seems to have a mutual consent over it as Spencer Pratt hasn't made any statements regarding the issue, as of now.The couple got married to each other in April 2009. Heidi cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split.
"This breakup is the latest part of Spencer's master plan," an insider recently revealed, explaining that the couple is in panic mode now that "The Hills" is winding down.Another source added that the duo is "laughing over" the breakup headlines "and having a blast."According to sources, “The legal significance of legal separation is that her earnings will become her separate property from the date of separation… Under the section, ‘community assets and debts,’ in which Heidi wrote, ‘No such assets or debts'."As previously reported, Heidi moved out of her and Spencer's shared home last month, and turned to Jennifer Bunney to start a new reality show.
