Height of political nuisance
Any commitment of the General/Rail Budget must be honoured irrespective of the change in the Minister or the political party.
MINISTRY OF Finance and the Planning Commission had recently decided to scrap most of the Projects announced/projected by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in her last Rail Budget. The main reason was attributed to lack of funds.
The main projects are the construction of new tracks, double gauge conversion, line electrification and dedicated Freight Corridor Scheme etc.

How come one fine morning when there are political differences among the Congress and Mamata’s Trinamool Party, the funds are running short? Clearly, it is just eyewash and nothing else but to let down Mamata since she is not agreeable to some of the decisions taken by the ruling UPA government.

By taking this step, the UPA Government will be narrowing their own prospects of marking their presence when the State Assembly Elections of Five States are due to take place in February and March. The changeover/rejecting the commitment of their proposals by the UPA government will indeed reflect their forthcoming Election in the five States without fail.

The government is considering only North East projects, which is a clear induction of the Vote Bank and nothing else.

Any commitment of the General/Rail Budget must be honoured irrespective of the change in the Minister or the political party. Do we take that the projects/proposals go as per the face value of a Minister.

Why commit in case they can’t take care. Why Citizens of a State should suffer due to the personal enmity among two individuals. After all Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee also belongs to the West Bengal itself, then why he is not in the favour of the prosperity of his own State. It’s very surprising and shocking too.
