Helios sponsors computer education for the poor
The Helios Foundation, a charitable trust setup towards the development of underprivileged children in India announces the launch of two computer training labs at Government run educational institutions for poor rural children.
THE HELIOS Foundation, a charitable trust setup towards the development of underprivileged children in India has announced the launch of two computer training labs at Government run educational institutions for poor rural children.

Initiated in 2008, the Helios Foundation is a charitable trust founded under the principle that little drops of water combine together to make the mighty ocean. Initiated by Helios Outsourcing (www.heliosoutsourcing.com), a UK based call centre outsourcing firm, the foundation embarked upon a noble cause with help from friends, family members, colleagues & well wishers.

The aim is to help make the lives of the underprivileged children of India just a little bit better! The primary focus is towards the education and upbringing of orphan, destitute and differently-abled children of India and the activities till date have been towards this goal. Based in Chennai, India, the foundation aims to spread its wings by partnering with likeminded institutions, individuals and groups around the country with the motive that 'Helping hands are holier than praying lips'.

Helios recognized the need for quality education amongst government run educational institutions for children of economically backward communities in India and in this regard embarked upon a mission to partner with an organization to further the aim of holistic development. It is in this regard that Helios partnered with RDO – Rural Development Organisation, a non profit, non political, volunteer organization committed to improving the living conditions of the rural poor.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Santosh Moses, Managing Trustee of the Helios Foundation has this to say: “The philosophy at the Helios Foundation has always been based on teaching a person to fish rather than feeding the person fish. It is on this basis, that we had embarked upon various initiatives focused on the education of underprivileged children. Whilst our achievements till date includes sponsorship of annual school fees for hundreds of children to additional training & coaching activities, the computer lab set-up was based on today’s ground realities. Working computer knowledge is no longer just a mere benefit but an absolute necessity for the youth of today and we hope and trust that the seeds that we have sown today bear great fruit in the not so distant future. I take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters, especially the staff of Helios Outsourcing for their continued support and dedication towards our cause.”
