IF YOU are suffering from high blood pressure, then you might be at a risk of kidney disorder. A recent study reveals the fact that more than 500 million persons throughout the world have been suffering from kidney disorders. The ratio is 1:10. Every year, millions of people lose their lives in premature heart attacks and strokes which are caused due to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Researchers say that blood pressure plays an important role in maintaining a healthy kidney and it also helps kidneys to execute their function properly.

While speaking to the media, Dr GK Venkatesh, the Director and professor of Urology, Institute of Nephrology & Urology at Victoria Hospital said, “The high blood pressure affects the organs like brain, heart and kidney therefore the intake of salty food and fast food rich in potassium should be restricted as it directly affects the functioning of the kidneys’’.

High blood pressure prevents our heart from working in a normal way and it gradually damages our blood vessels. Ultimately, the overall blood circulation gets disrupted throughout the body. When the blood vessels in the kidneys are damaged, they prevent the proper removal of wastes and extra fluid from our body. The presence of extra fluid in the blood vessels increases our blood pressure.

In order to have normal blood pressure, we have to maintain healthy and tension free life. Changes of lifestyle like practicing light exercise regularly and controlling diet are very much necessary to keep normal blood pressure (120/80).
