Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Chandra Jena, who was arrested on May 13, 2010, from Vishakhapatnam in connection with the murder of Rabi Narayan Behera alias Chicken Rabi has been granted conditional bail by the Orissa High Court.
THE ORISSA High Court has granted conditional bail to Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Chandra Jena, who was arrested on May 13, 2010, from Vishakhapatnam in connection with the murder of Rabi Narayan Behera alias Chicken Rabi on January 1.
Notably, gangster Chicken Rabi was shot dead on January 1 at Dhipa Street in the city. The main accused persons involved in the murder case had named MLA Jena as one of the abettors in the crime and revealed that he was also involved in it.
The police had then arrested MLA Jena on May 13 from Vishakhapatnam and sent him to jail.
Although, MLA Jena had tried to get anticipatory bail, but it was rejected as police had not filed any charge sheet in the murder case. Later, the bail application was rejected in the high court and even on July 27, the HC had upheld the order not to grant bail.
But on Friday (July 30), the HC bench chaired by BK Patel granted conditional bail to the MLA.
