Hillary arrives in Mumbai
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has arrived in Mumbai on a four-day visit to India, during which she is expected to push her country's nuclear agenda and re-pledge support for the fight against terrorism.
US SECRETARY of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Mumbai on Friday night, on a four-day visit to India during which she is expected to push her country's nuclear agenda as part of her diplomatic efforts to pursue the US-India civil nuclear deal and re-pledge that the Obama administration stands by the Manmohan Singh in its fight against terrorism.

Hillary, who was accorded a warn welcome by the senior protocol officials of the Maharashtra government as well as the Centre on her arrival in the city at around 10.40pm, drove straight to Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower in South Mumbai, where she is put up at the 11th floor of the hotel's Tower Wing. The 10th and 11th floors of the hotel have been taken over by US security officials.

According to available information, Hillary will have a breakfast meeting  on Saturday, with "8 to 10" head honchos of top Indian companies and other select guests invited by Ratan Tata. Apart from Tata, Mukesh Ambani, ICICI's Chanda Kochhar, Swati Pirmal and Jamshed Godrej will also be present at the breakfast meeting. She is expected to address a select group of media persons.

Hillary will visit a centre for the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), a non-government organisation founded by Ela Bhatt, in South Mumbai and interact with the volunteers and artisans of the organisation. Later in the afternoon, Hillary will interact with NGOs on issues of education at a function organised at Mumbai's St Xavier's College. At this function, she will share a platform with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan.

Hillary, who is the highest-ranking US official to visit India after Obama took over as President, is also expected to visit the 26/11 attack sites and interact with the family members of the victims during her visit to the city. During her visit, she will interact at length with External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Indo-US bilateral issues and will announce "a verybroad comprehensive agenda for dialogue that minister Krishna and I would be leading."
