Himachal CM inaugurates International Renuka Fair
Prem Kumar Dhumal, Himachal Chief Minister, said that the Renuka Fair was one of the oldest traditional and religious fair of Himachal Pradesh in which devotees from different parts of the country participate every year. He was addressing a mammoth gathering on the occasion of inauguration of the week-long cultural programme of International Renuka Fair, organized by Renuka Development Board in association with the district administration every year. He lighted the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion.

EMPHASISING THE importance of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state, the Chief Minister said that the State Government had been encouraging organization of such fairs and festivals. He said that it was during BJP Government that Renuka Fair was also granted status of  International Fair.

He greeted people on the occasion and wished them a happy and prosperous new year ahead. He said that Himachal Pradesh was popularly known as ‘Dev Bhoomi’ as people here had immense faith in the devotional powers and local deities.

Prof. Dhumal said that Himachal Pradesh had emerged as a role model in almost all major sectors and bagged record 75 National and International level awards for the spectacular achievements made in last five years and had set an example to rest of the country in development sector despite its difficult geophysical conditions.  He appealed to the people to lend their support towards the target oriented policies and programmes of the State Government so that Himachal Pradesh could scale new heights.

Shri Vikas Labroo, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sirmour, welcomed the Chief Minister, on behalf of the Renuka Mela Organising Committee and detailed about the historical and devotional background of the Fair.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal, former Health Minister and General Secretary, State BJP, Shri Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Hirda Ram, MLA, Renuka, Shri Chander Mohan Thakur, Chairman, HP State Cooperative Bank, Shri Baldev Tomar, President,District Sirmour BJP, Dr. Balbir  Chauhan, Vice Chairman, HP State SC and ST Development Corporation, Smt. Dayal Pyari, Chairperson, Zila Parishad and other prominent persons of the area were present on the occasion.
