Government of Himachal Pradesh has been endeavouring to ensure all-round and speedy development of the State. Under the stewardship of CM Prem Kumar Dhumal, Himachal is slowly turning into an educational hub.
ACCORDING TO Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal his government has been endeavouring to ensure all-round and speedy development of the state cutting across party and regional considerations. The spectacular achievements and number of accolades won at the national level has already scripted the making of a developed and prosperous Himachal, the chief minister feels.
While talking to this correspondent in Shimla on Sunday, Chief Minister Dhumal said that the state government is ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure for education and has opened quality educational institutions throughout the length and breadth of the state. He said that higher educaional institutions set up in the state would ensure that students do not have to spend huge amount of money to study outside the state and also in private colleges. He declared that the Institute of Engineering and Technology at Pragtinagar in Shimla district will be opened in the near future with the assistance of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam. A Hydro Engineering College in collaboration with National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in district Bilaspur is also on the cards.
Principal Secretary, Education, Shri Kant Baldi informed that the Central University at Dehra, Indian Institute of Fashion Technology at Chheb in district Kangra, Food Craft Institute in Kangra district and Hotel Management Institute at Hamirpur has been opened to impart professional education to students. Similarly, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and ESI Medical College and Hospital near Ner Chowk in Mandi district, Technical University in Hamirpur district, Atal Shiksha Kunj and University of Bio Technology Management Science in Solan district and three more Medical Colleges and Hospitals are proposed to be opened in Una, Hamirpur and Sirmour districts.Baldi also informed that a number of private universities have been set up such as Eternal University has been opened at Sirmaur, Rayat Bahra University at Shimla, Sai University in Kangra district, Chitkara University of Engineering Sciences and Technology in district Solan, University of Biotechnology and Management and Sciences and Indus International University in district Una.It must be mentioned that five Adarsh schools will be opened in the state with one in Sirmaur district and the remaining four in Chamba district. A number of schools are being opened in the far flung areas of the state. In addition, 43 Senior Secondary Schools, 58 High Schools, 62 Middle and 33 Primary Schools have been opened in the government sector alone during last three years, which amply speaks of the Government’s commitment towards the balanced development of the state.
