Hindu organizations join hands to showcase Hinduism in Sacramento
Various Hindu organizations joined together to showcase rich Hindu philosophy, heritage, traditions, way of life and culture in California's capital Sacramento on September 15.

HINDU LEADER Rajan Zed, delivering the inaugural address at this day-long event, titled “Hindu Sangam” (Sangam meaning “confluence”), stressed on the need of creating awareness of Hinduism in the society, doing charity as charity was a religious duty, and active participation in interfaith dialogue, etc.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out the importance of passing on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society.

Held at Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir, it included poornkumbh procession, havan, exhibitions, shlok recitation, music, Bharatnatyam, bhajans, cultural programs, workshops and speeches by experts of various aspects of Hinduism. Topics discussed at the Sangam included challenges of Hindus in America, raising kids Hindu way, Seva in Hinduism, Hindu issues, significance of temples, Hinduism impact in United States, Hindu unity, etc.

Supporting Hindu organizations included Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University, Art of Living, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, Gayatri Privar, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Hindu American Foundation, International Society for Krishna Consciousness, Sahaj Marg, Sathya Sai and Shirdi Sai Group, SEWA International, Shiv Mandir Sacramento, Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Shree Laxmi Narayan Mandir and Vedanta Society of Sacramento.
