Hollywood's best contenders for Oscar 2013
After some bad as well as good films Oscar nominations are getting interesting by the day. Read on to see if your favourite film is under the consideration for this Oscars awards or not.

HOLLYWOOD SEEMS to be on a bit of dry run. In spite of the fact that it is producing movies almost on a daily basis but in the past eight months only couple of films seem to have caught the eyes of the public as the stuff for Oscars. If the same trend goes on then it would be difficult for the 2013 Oscars and lack of quantity would eventually give way to selection of lesser quality movies as Oscar films.

In spite of the dearth, there are a number of films that can take the Golden trophy home. The first and the foremost film in the list of the Oscar nominations can be 'Beats of the Southern Wild.' It has already won the Cannes and the Sundance awards and has got 7.4 and 8.4 ratings from the IMBD and Rotten Tomatoes respectively. This tale of survival seen through the eyes of a six-year-old in a fictitious land of the bathtub is a strong contender to the Dark Knight Rises, which stands a strong Oscar chance this year.

Although the prequel to the Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight was not included in the previous Oscar list much to the outrage of its audience but this year, it is one of the strongest contenders till this time of the year. Christopher Nolan has been able to successfully weave a tale larger than life and won the hearts of audience around the globe. With a 8.8 IMBD rating, this is an audience film and deserves to be in the list.

The film Moonrise Kingdom did a surprise business of 34 million dollars owing to its storyline. If one looks at the trailer then it essentially looks like a simple story of a girl eloping from camp with a boy and then everyone looking for them. However, it has its quirky and eccentric moments and is a good movie and can have a surprise nomination at the directing category.

Thanks to Opera and all the hullabaloo she created with her coming to India and making a show out of it that the Indian interest has again risen among the western audience. They want to understand all the seemingly unfathomable thing such as the traffic, bad roads and the rest about India. The film 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' is about such a journey that everyone can take just sitting in front of a screen and try and understand the puzzle that is India. The comedy about a group of retired people coming to visit India did strike a cord with the audience and did a 46 million dollar business but however, according to usatoday.com, these kind of films have a lot more competition at the end of the year.

Avengers was another movie about fantastical characters that was supposed to do well and it did. It might also make it to the Oscar list as it got rave reviews from the critics. It was also loved by the audience world over and collected a huge 618 million dollars.

Pixar got out from its previous year's Car 2 loss by this film 'Brave.' The film about a princess out in a man's world who doesn't want an elegant treatment was loved by children and their parents all over. Animation of the highest order made their day and reviewers are sure that this film would get a nomination in the animation category.

While many said that Ridley Scott lost his Alien's touch with his present film Prometheus, many still believe that he would feature in the Oscar list. Although it is not that great but it was far better than most of the Hollywood films and deserves a fighting chance.
